Innovative Physical Learning Spaces
(Active Learning Classrooms, Learning Commons):
Trends through an International Perspective.

An innovative physical Learning Spaces (Active Learning Classrooms, Learning Commons, Learning Centers) international comparative study has been launched in October 2016 through an international collaboration between Paris Digital University and Kyoto University. This project aims to study the Learning Spaces phenomenon through different angles: policies, trends, design principles, outcomes on teaching and learning practices, and more globally on campuses transformation. More than 50 institutions (including The University of Tokyo) on four continents have already been investigated, and international associations and workgroups such as EDUCAUSE/ELI are involved in this project.  This talk will present the study framework, the criteria used, and the first results that have been collected through these 50 institutions in an international comparative approach.
