MEXT Scholarship Students

How to request "Letter of Acceptance" for Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship (Research Students for 2019) *Deadline: 2018/8/24(Fri.)
If you would like to obtain a "Letter of Acceptance" for the MEXT Scholarship (Research Students for 2019) from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, you must first pass the Primary Screening given by the Japanese Embassy / Consulate General in your home country.
 
Then you are requested to take the following steps:
 
1. Choose ONE faculty member as a future supervisor.
You can get information on each department, faculty members' research fields, etc. at the following websites:

2. Submit all the documents as PDF files by e-mail to the International Student Section.

1)Application for Acceptance for Monbukagakusho Scholarship
Print from the link above, fill the form out and sign it with your own handwritten signature.
Do not forget to write the name of your future supervisor.
 
2) Certificate of passing Primary Screening issued by the Japanese Embassy
 
3) Complete set of the documents submitted to the Japanese Embassy /Consulate General “with a confirmation seal of the Embassy” which is issued and returned by the Embassy, as follows:
 - Application Form for Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship for 2019
- Field of Study and Research Program Plan
- Academic transcript
*If you have completed graduate course (or if you have been enrolled in graduate course), please submit transcripts for both undergraduate course and graduate course.
- Graduation certificate or degree certificate of the university attended
(or an attested document certifying that the applicant will graduate from the school, where applicable)
*If you have completed graduate course (or if you have been enrolled in graduate course), please submit both graduation certificate for undergraduate course and completion certificate (or expected completion certificate) for graduate course.
- Recommendation from the principal or the adviser of the last university attended or the university currently attending
- Recommendation from the present employer (if currently employed)
- Certificate of language proficiency (only if submitted to the diplomatic mission)
- Abstract of thesis

After screening several levels, we will officially inform you of the result by mail. In some cases, it might take more than one month to screen the application.
We are unable to consider you as a candidate for acceptance unless you fulfill all the requirements and submit all the required documents.
You should send us your documents as PDF files via e-mail. Please note that if you send word files, we will not be able to receive them.

If you are an applicant for MEXT Scholarship (Research Students for 2019) from China and would like to obtain “Letter of Acceptance” from Graduate School of Arts and Sciences as a research student enrolling in September 2019, you must first pass the Primary Screening given by the Japanese Embassy in China.
