Please introduce yourself.
My name is Matthias Mercado, I am an exchange student from the Martin Luther University in Germany.
What brought you to the Komaba Campus?
My major is economics, but I want to work in Japan in the future, so I needed to improve my Japanese language skills and decided to come to the Komaba Campus for one year living abroad. Besides that, I decided to study here because I heard that Japanese classes for the international students at the Komaba Campus are intensive and high in quality.
Please tell us about your transition to life on the Komaba Campus.
I can get from the University of Tokyo International Lodge to Komaba station in less than 30 minutes. I change trains at Shibuya, but because I took the train going away from the city I hardly ever have any problems with crammed trains.
Please tell us about the friendships and network you have built on the Komaba Campus.
Thanks to the tutors the staff introduced me, I always get support regarding homework and life issues. I have made good friends that I hope to keep in touch with in the future.
How did you prepare for the course at Komaba Campus?
Before coming to Japan, I took a Japanese class and made efforts to improve my language skills. Also, I think the best thing is the fact that I applied for the University of Tokyo International Lodge before coming. It’s cheap and I can get to the campus easily and quickly.
