1 What made you decide to study overseas?
The fact that I felt confined as a student in Japan.

2 Please tell us about the best experience you had studying abroad.
When I was praised by the lecturer for a presentation that I had worked on for two weeks.

3 Please tell us about the hardest part of your overseas study.
At the beginning of my stay, I couldn’t explain to my friends what I was trying to say.

4 What types of classes did you take?
Lectures on the history of the indigenous Maoris in New Zealand and language classes. Lectures on Latin American culture.

5 What were you involved in outside of class? (Clubs, volunteering, internships etc.)
I took part in the Japanese culture club.

6 How do you want to make use of your experience overseas?
My experience gave me great confidence in communicating with people from completely different backgrounds using a foreign language, so I want to use this positive experience in next challenge.

7 If you have any advice for students planning to study abroad, please tell us.
You mustn’t think that you can’t speak English or be embarrassed to be Japanese. Don’t try too hard to fit in with others and be yourself!

8 If you have anything else you want to say, including any experience that left an impression on you, please do so here.

New Zealand is a good place - it is peaceful and spacious. And the other foreign students and local students who chose to live there were also great people. It was a wonderful environment.
