On June 12th, 14th and 15th the Globalization Office held Post-Return Presentations in KIBER 314 on the Komaba Campus. On each day three returnee study abroad students presented about their study abroad experience during their lunch break.
The nine students studied at universities all over the world: University of Hongkong, Trinity College - University of Dublin, University of Melbourne, The University of British Columbia, University of South Hampton, John Hopkins University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and University of Sheffield. They took classes in many different languages, providing a wealth of knowledge about possible study abroad experiences for the prospective study abroad students in attendance.
The presenters talked about the importance of language studies before going abroad, what kinds of challenges they faced while studying abroad, how they want to maximize the potential that studying abroad gave them in their future career, as well as introducing about their daily life, club activities, traveling, through many photos. Students in attendance were able to get a taste of what life is like studying abroad and get practical advice about a wide range of topics including how to deal with potential scams, how to find housing, and what life is like in a shared living environment.
After the presentations, returnee students and prospective study abroad students could be seen further chatting and exchanging contact information. These events are a great chance for returnee students to share their firsthand experience with students who are considering studying abroad and we encourage anyone who is interested to attend in the future.
We plan to have similar presentation sessions in Autumn semester as well. If you are interested, don't hesitate to join us next time.
