On Saturday, October 21st, 2017, the AIKOM Program celebrated it's 22 year history of study abroad and international exchange by holding a symposium and evening reception on the Komaba Campus.
Professor Toshiko Ellis acted as the MC for the symposium, which included speeches and a panel discussion. Speeches were made by Professor Atsushi Ishida, the Dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, Professor Mamoru Doi, the Deputy Director of the International Center and Director of the USTEP Office, Professor Junji Nagata, the Director of the AIKOM Coordinating Committee, and Professor Mariko Osawa, a Lecturer in the Center for International Exchange.
For the panel discussion, 6 former AIKOM students from different years talked about their experiences abroad and how those experiences helped them in their present careers. There was also time for participants to answer questions from the audience.
The symposium was followed by an evening reception in which more than 100 former AIKOM students came together from all over the world to share their memories and meet other AIKOM alumni from different generations.
Here are some pictures from the event.
Thank you very much to everyone who came to the event, and everyone who has supported the AIKOM Program over it's 22 year history.
The AIKOM Program not only laid the foundation for international exchange on the Komaba Campus, it also touched the lives of more than 900 AIKOM students who through the program have made lasting friendships and built diverse careers.
