Message to Students

In the rapidly changing world, universities play an increasingly important role in gathering knowledge across disciplines, keeping contact with and relevance for the real world, sharing experiences with the younger generation, building international networks and nurturing global leaders.

We are now regaining and further developing a full-fledged form of international exchange after the few years of COVID-related restrictions. The University of Tokyo is expanding and developing its international cooperation further, and its Komaba Campus is accommodating many international students.

 Many international symposia and seminars are held, and numerous exchanges are held with researchers from universities outside Japan. The number of people travelling abroad for short-term study in the framework of Global Praxis and other programmes, as well as for long-term exchange at partner universities, is also increasing.

The Centre for International Exchange is the hub of international exchange on the Komaba Campus. It includes the Globalization Office (B1F of 21 KOMCEE West), which provides a space for Komaba students to study and share student life with international students; the International Research Cooperation Office (2F of Building 101), in charge of sending students to partner universities and receiving international students; and the International Students’ Advisory Room (2F of Building 101), which supports international students' life on the Komaba Campus.

In seeking your next steps in life, it is very important to directly communicate with people from different cultures and with different values, and to think and come up with solutions together. We would like many people to experience the learning experience and joy of doing so. Please utilize the precious opportunities made available to you.
